Trainers representative was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required before the gelding barrier trials to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again. Since trialled and passed vet exam.

10 FARAGE 2/08/2020 Gundagai Near the 1200m was checked and got its head up whilst racing ungenerously to avoid the heels of a runner which shifted in when not quite fully clear. Co-Trainer was advised a warning would be recorded against the gelding in respect to its racing manners. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m.

5 HIDDEN POTENTIAL 20/07/2020 Wellington Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after racing at Dubbo 17th July 2020 and was passed fit to start. Near the 1500m shifted in and made contact with the hindquarter of runner resulting in both runners becoming momentarily unbalanced.

10 QUEEN LEAR 18/07/2020 Lismore Rider stated that he had anticipated settling in a midfield position but after being slow to begin, his mount settled further back than he had anticipated. Rider stated that his mount was unsuited by what he judged to be a slow tempo during the early & middle stages. Rider added that rounding the home turn, he was forced to improve to the outside of runners as there was not an opportunity for him to improve closer to the running rail, which he believes was detrimental to his mounts performance due to the typical racing pattern of track.

15e SPACE COMET 2/08/2020 Gundagai A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the off hind leg. The gelding was subsequently treated by the club’s Veterinary officer. Trainer was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness must be submitted prior to racing or barrier trialling again. Vet certificate received.

3 JETEYE 17/07/2020 Dubbo Near 300m had to be steadied from heels of a rnr, which shifted out to avoid heels of another rnr, which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Rider std geld was inclined to overrace in early & mid stages & commenced to weaken quite noticeably in straight. Rider suggested geld may have got its tongue over bit. A post race vet exam revealed no abs. Trainer std it would now be intention to experiment with gelding’s gear. Added in his opinion geld races best when allowed to stride fwd rather than placing restraint on gelding & advised will issue instructions of this nature to riders in future.

He added that the gelding may not have been suited racing without blinkers as it did at its last start at Bathurst 28th May 2020. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

8 CROWN DANCER 7/07/2020 Warren When qtd re tactics adopted on mare, rdr std that he was instructed to endeavour to be positive on the mare. He std the mare who was first up and back in dist was slow into stride and failed to muster early speed. Said despite placing his mnt under pressure from the 1000m- 600m the mare failed to make up ground from remainder of field until near the 400m where the mare commenced to respond to his urgings and found the line well. Std in his opinion would benefit being stepped up in dist. Trnr confirm instr however had seen mare can be slow away in prev starts. Said would now step up in dist.

8 SUPPLYZING 26/10/2019 Albury Was inclined to lay out throughout. When questioned regarding the performance rider advised the gelding travelled well throughout the early and middle stages however passing the 450m when a runner raced up to his outside the gelding immediately come off the bit and did not respond to his riding from this point and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
8 SUPPLYZING 24/07/2020 Canberra Rider was permitted to ride his mount 1/2kg over under the overweight policy. Leaving the mounting enclosure en route to the start, rider lost the use of his irons and soon after dismounted falling awkwardly. The gelding galloped for some distance before being re-captured and was scratched by order of the Stewards at 3:48pm.
